Experience The Best of Naples: 7 Things To Do

If you are looking for a truly unique Italian experience, you will definitely find it in Naples!

Out of all of the cities I’ve been to in Italy, Naples was definitely the most raw, unfiltered experience. Though Naples isn’t quite as photogenic as some of its coastal city neighbors, the rich culture and historic buildings make this city one of a kind.

Here are 7 ways to experience the best of Naples!

1. Roam Centro Storico

In the center of the city is centro storico, the oldest part of the city that dates back 27 centuries.

This neighborhood is a short walk from the central train station, and is full of local shops and antique style souvenirs. You will also find many places serving local bites and bars serving $2 aperol spritz.

2. Visit Duomo di Napoli

While you’re in the historic center, you must stop by the largest cathedral in Naples. This cathedral was built in the 14th century and shows off the incredible historic architecture of Naples. And, admission is free!

3. Try A Neapolitan Pizza

Naples is known to be the pizza capital of the world, and rightfully so.

Italians have truly mastered the art of crafting the perfect pizza. I tried pizza from three different restaurants and each one tasted like the best pizza I ever had. I recommend trying a diavola pizza from Trattoria Fedele.

4. Take a Pasta Making Class

Take a slice of italy home with you by learning the skills to make pasta from scratch!

This is a great way to immerse yourself in the culture of italy, and bring memories and a new skill home with you! I had the best time making fettuccine Alfredo and ravioli in a 2 hour pasta making class with Naplesbay Tour.

5. Take A Day Trip to Pompeii

Pompeii is only a 30 minute train ride from Naples, and is absolutely worth visiting.

The history behind this ancient city is truly incredible, and the views are surreal. Bring your walking shoes, Pompeii was a city and is definitely not a small historical site!

6. Experience Naples Nightlife

Nightlife in Naples never disappoints, whether you’re looking for an elegant cocktail, or a trendy bar, you will find it. Visitors like Chiaia for its fashionable vibe, and Cammarota Spritz is known for its $1 spritz and lively outdoor hangout area.

7. Catch a Coastal Sunset

I am always looking for places to watch the sunset when I travel, and Naples is a great place for a seaside sunset.

Maybe you’ll have a nice dinner along the coast or just simply take in the view. Castel sant ‘Elmo sits on a hillside overlooking the city and also makes for a good sunset spot.

Naples is full of bustling life and culture, a crucial part of travel experiences.

You won’t find the perfect postcard views or the quiet beach resorts, but you will see a part of Italy through an unfiltered lens that is equally as beautiful as the other cities. Naples is definitely worth the trip, and you’ll probably eat some of the best food you’ve ever had there.
